November was full of action for Dare to Believe. Our Olympic and Paralympic Ambassadors visited another 17 school all over the country, we attended the TY Expo at the National Indoor Arena and hosted our first official Olympians Live! nationwide webinar event.
Olympic Champion Kellie Harrington selected the Holy Family School for the Deaf for am ambassador visit during her recovery period after winning the European Championships in the Czech Republic. The students at the Holy Family gave Kellie a warm welcome with a guard of honour, beautiful artwork, posters and gifts. Kellie gave an inspirational talk with the help of a sign language interpreter. The students played the Olympic Torch relay game and asked Kellie some brilliant questions. The school were incredible hosts and Kellie matched their enthusiasm with her upl-lifting words and stories.
TY EXPO- Over 4,000 students
In early November, Dare to Believe attended the TY Show ’22 promoting our new Transition Year Programme to schools around the country at the National Indoor Arena at the Sport Ireland Campus. Four of our Dare to Believe ambassadors were in attendance to share their pro-tips with students. European Medallist, Grainne Walsh delivered a boxing masterclass, Olympic Rower Monika Durkarska told her inspiring journey about moving to Ireland and qualifying for the Olympics at the “Is Feidir Linn” stage and gave rowing coaching advice at our booth, Olympic hurdlers Thomas Barr and Sarah Lavin gave us sprinting advice and tips on how to balance sport and school in a panel talk and booth. A lot of fun was had by ambassadors and the 4000 students that attended the event . Check out our recap video of the day here!
