ATHLETICS
Marcus Lawler was born in Carlow in 1995. He was always a lover of almost every sport and tried them all growing up. He started athletics at the age of 8 through Community Games and decided to focus fully on it by the time he was 18.
He had some success at underage level winning National titles at Club and School grades. Success was harder to come by on the World and European stage at Youth, Junior and u23 level. His mam is still a key part of his coaching team!
To date, he has represented Ireland on many occasions at Major Championships. His main goal to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Hometown: Tinryland, Carlow
Favourite food: Pizza
Favourite movie: Focus
Favourite music: Charts
Childhood heros: My Parents
Favourite athlete: Usain Bolt
Most rewarding moment in sport:
Getting the opportunity to wear the Irish Singlet at major Championships such as Worlds or Europeans. So much work goes into getting that chance.
Talents other than sport:
Although related to sport, I enjoy coaching other individuals or teams and seeing them improve and getting the best out of themselves.
