Marcus Lawler was born in Carlow in 1995. He was always a lover of almost every sport and tried them all growing up. He started athletics at the age of 8 through Community Games and decided to focus fully on it by the time he was 18.

He had some success at underage level winning National titles at Club and School grades. Success was harder to come by on the World and European stage at Youth, Junior and u23 level. His mam is still a key part of his coaching team!

To date, he has represented Ireland on many occasions at Major Championships including the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
