Road to Beijing Updates!

22,000 kids around Ireland have taken part in the Road to Beijing Challenge!

While Team Ireland athletes were competing in Beijing, over 22,000 schoolchildren in Ireland took part in the Road to Beijing Olympic Schools Challenge, sending messages, chants and posters to support them while they were at the Games.

Messages from our Olympians

Triple Olympian Seamus O’Connor had a special message to the students in Ireland doing the Olympic School challenge. After his 15th place finish in Beijing, he was full of gratitude for the passion and energy the students have shown in the live webinar and in the videos been sent in. Please share his message with your students!

School Webinar Live to Olympic Village

One of the highlights for a lot of our schools was a live webinar which we hosted where classrooms around Ireland could have a lunch time chat with two of our Winter Olympians live from the Olympic Village. Seamus O Connor and Brendan Newby joined over 6,000 children who submitted hundreds of questions to them. See some of the fun pictures below.

A look at Christchurch National School Waterford

We received hundreds of personalised good luck messages for our Team Ireland Winter Olympians. Some of these were hung up in the Olympic Village so the athletes could see these and enjoy them. One school in particular that stood out was Christchurch National School Waterford and their Teacher Annie Colquhoun. They submitted personalised good luck messages for each of the athletes and also created t- shirts, had active session in the yard enjoying our challenges and also enjoyed the Olympic Torch Relay in their class!
