Darragh Greene

Darragh Greene is a talented Irish swimmer, born on October 20, 1995, from Newtownforbes, County Longford. Specializing in breaststroke, Greene holds Irish national records in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke. He first made a significant impact in 2019 by setting a new Irish record in the 100m breaststroke at the FINA World Championships in South Korea, clocking in at 59.82 seconds. Although he missed the semifinals, he became the first Irish swimmer to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Throughout his career, Greene has received support from various coaches and his local community. He started swimming with Longford Swimming Club and later trained with top coaches, including Ben Higson, to advance his competitive skills. His Olympic journey continued with his selection for the Paris 2024 Games as part of Ireland’s 400m medley relay team.
