Freeski Halfpipe


Brendan (Bubba) Newby is a two-time Winter Olympian. Competing for Ireland in the Freeski Halfpipe event at both the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics. He was born in Cork, Ireland in 1996. At the age of two his family moved to Utah in the United States, where he grew up.

The Olympic Spirit was instilled in him at a young age when he attended events of the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. His father taught him to ski at four years old and has loved it ever since. He started competing professionally in 2016. He had the honors of carrying the Irish flag as the 2022 Opening Ceremony Flag Bearer and the 2018 Closing Ceremony flag bearer.

Talents other than sport: Dirt Biking Disk-Golf, Stand-up Paddle Boarding, mountain biking, corn-hole, and I am an above average bowler.
